Richmond Wedding at Lake Buck Lodge

Haliegh and Ethan said “I Do” on a beautiful late spring day in Richmond, Ky. They had a quiet, joyful celebration at Lake Buck Lodge next to the Bluegrass Army Depot– a hidden gem in Richmond that blends comfort cabin warmth with classic Kentucky scenery. I actually connected with this couple through another wedding blog I’d photographed at this venue and I was SO glad I did. Their wedding was full of wildflowers and whimsy… all the things that make my heart happy! After that initial consultation I actually ran into them several times at my favorite local coffee shop, so we quickly put two and two together and got to connect in person. This wedding was the perfect wildflower filled spring day!

The couple started getting ready at some modern, yet adorable air bnbs local to Richmond. I had actually recommended one of them to Haliegh, and it turned out the owner was a friend and mentor of hers– such a small world!!! The girls seemed to have the most peaceful and just fun morning as they got ready! Haliegh carried a ease about her and her bridesmaids seemed like the best, encouraging group she could surround herself with that day. After capturing some getting ready photos we trekked out to a waterfall nestled beside the air bnb for bridesmaid photos! The flowers were amazing and locally grown by a church friend of Haliegh’s and arranged beautifully for the bouquets.

During the ceremony and entire wedding really, Haliegh and Ethan made sure God was glorified at the center of it all. They had live music from her aforementioned mentor and all their people gathered around them in a moment of prayer during the ceremony. These emotional moments continued as they invited guests to participate in communion at their reception– this was the first time I’d seen this and it was a beautiful display of the love of Jesus. After formal dances and speeches, the couple and their friends were ready to really celebrate! Haliegh’s friends circled around her bringing all the joy as they danced to the continuous soundtrack of Taylor Swift. Finally, they had the cutest send-off with bubbles glistening in the afternoon sun! We snuck down by the water for some more couple photos, and a few little bubble blowers may have followed us! It was the perfect end to a perfect Kentucky afternoon wedding at Lake Buck Lodge!

Haliegh and Ethan, thank you so much for asking me to capture your day! Your love and joy was evident and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it!
