Emily & Trey > A Backyard Wedding

Where do I begin? I have personally known Emily since high school. We have always shared a love for Taylor Swift, coffee shops, and all things hipster. I feel like I’ve had the privilege to watch their relationship unfold over the past few years. One day, probably over coffee at Purdy’s, I remember Emily telling me that when they got married Trey said “Lauren will do our pictures!” What a compliment when I didn’t even know Trey that well yet! Then as we met up—once again at Purdy’s— to begin planning for their big day I got to know Trey as well and again at their engagement session. I feel so blessed to know these two and call them friends. Like Trey said as we were taking their wedding portraits, it really does make it so much better that we are all friends! Their love for each other and Jesus inspires me so much. I’m not sure if I’ve ever met a more welcoming couple! Unfortunately, this wedding was effected by the pandemic; but Emily and Trey didn’t dwell on that and neither will I. They truly made the best of a tough situation and I’m not sure it could’ve turned out any better. This backyard wedding was so much more intimate and special in so many ways… I almost felt like I was at a fancy family cookout. Everyone was just so welcoming and the people Trey and Emily had surrounding them on their day showered them with joy and love. I could say more but I think Emily described their day much better than I can:

“Our wedding day was nothing we originally expected but exactly everything we needed. God knew what our perfect day looked like when we didn’t and we wouldn’t have had that same day without following in obedience to his calling to still get married during a global pandemic. Trey and I both wouldn’t have changed a thing. Celebrating our marriage with our closest loved ones, getting plenty of hugs, dancing to our favorite songs, and feeling comfortable enough to be 100% authentically ourselves are things we were so blessed to enjoy on May 24th and moments we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. My favorite part of the evening was the rainbow that appeared in the sky over the area where our ceremony was, moments after we said “I do.” It reminded me of the promise that God makes to us in Genesis. He promises to love and cherish His creation of man, and Trey and I both saw that in the abundant joy we felt that day. God was immensely more excited to celebrate our marriage than any of us combined. That was most definitely our favorite part of the day.”
